What is the regulation for emergency vehicles?
Regulations or Standards vary between different countries. Local regulation or standard can define very different designs and sheeting qualities, from graphic non retro-reflective material to class 3, very high retro-reflective material like 3M(TM) Diamond Grade(TM).

What does 3M recommend?
The highest retro-reflectivity sheeting would enable vehicles to be the most visible at night. So general recommendation would be to specify 3M(TM) Diamond Grade(TM). Fluo Yellow Green / red chevrons gives the best visibility in daytime so 3M™ Diamond Grade™ DG³ Prismatic Vehicle Marking 4083 is recommended for back side of all emergency vehicle and very highly recommended for back side of Fire brigade vehicles.
3M™ Diamond Grade™ Conspicuity Markings Series 983 narrow tapes are recommended to be used as contour marking to reinforce emergency safety vehicle visibility, especially for heavy and long vehicles.
For 3D surfaces, 3M(TM) Diamond Grade(TM) can specified with special cut off design specific to each vehicle. 3M™ High Intensity Metalized Flexible Prismatic Vehicle Marking 823i Series will be easier to apply and the preferred choice for 3D surfaces.
