Our 3M™ PTFE Film Tape 5491 uses an extruded polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film backing. This tape offers an extremely low coefficient of friction which, in combination with a pressure sensitive silicone adhesive, creates a smooth, non-stick surface over a variety of substrates to assist in the movement of materials in many types of lay-flat applications.

Use 3M™ PTFE Film Tape 5491 for a variety of roller applications. Our tape is an extruded polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film backing that has a very low coefficient of friction and a pressure sensitive silicone adhesive, which creates a smooth, non-stick surface for various substrates to assist in the movement of materials. Our extruded, calendared film tape lies flatter than typical skived PTFE film tapes. It resists curling during unwind for easy application and has high temperature and chemical resistance for better performance on heated machinery and equipment. The film tape’s thicker backing helps extend the service life over thinner versions when subjected to abrasion and wear. It’s high strength and abrasion resistance ensures reliability and performance to decrease friction, rattle and aid in noise reduction.
