The 3M 360 Encompass MD System leverages 3M’s Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology to help hospitals and healthcare organizations capture correct, complete and compliant data and documentation on their patients. 360 Encompass MD automatically analyzes all available patient data in both structured and unstructured text from clinical documentation—including EHR templates and transcribed documents—and follows coding rules and guidelines to automatically identify unclear, unspecified or missing diagnoses and gaps in documentation. The system then generates automated queries to physicians to clarify missing information. These automated queries along with any queries created by a hospital’s clinical documentation improvement staff are then sent to physicians through 360 Encompass MD which seamlessly integrates with a physician’s existing EHR workflows. This allows physicians to efficiently review and respond to any notifications or queries. Designed for minimal disruption, 360 Encompass MD prompts physicians for additional information only when necessary through interactive prompts, while subtly preparing the physician for the specificity requirements with the adoption of ICD 10.
